”We have made cooperation with VDP Helsinki for several years and Mrs Jaana Ekman has been our partner in various restaurant & hotel projects. This time we made total renovation and expansion for our biggest restaurant entity. The whole entity is called Food & Joy at Sokos Kuopio and there is 1500 sqm of customer space plus space for logistics, large concentrated kitchen area, storage etc. The business idea for this restaurant is food court with loads of interesting restaurant concepts for our customers to visit in and to enjoy.

”We made extensive customer study for our customers in advance and received a load of valuable feedback from them of wishes and their expectations for the restaurants to come. The previous food court had 4 concepts and we had already planned some new concepts and after reviewing the results of the customer insight study we were sure that these selected concepts are a good fit to those expectations. The concepts are Asian Restaurant Raisu (Raisu means rice in Japanese), Hesburger (the biggest fast food / burger concept in Finland), Coffee House (café & deli meets wine), Rosso (Italy orientated family restaurant), GoSalad (salad bar) and Döner 26 (authentic döner with oriental tastes).

”In my opinion there were no one else that could have combined the functional side of the restaurant and the experientialism side this way as it has been executed at Food & Joy. Food Courts are often too open spaces when viewed from an experiential perspective. Other providers that we met at call for designers were all quite fast out of the game because of this reason and so fore we incorporated all functional planning and interior design to Jaana’s agency. Jaana’s design key points are in my experience the experientialism and stylish outcome and Jaana’s ability to schedule the project and to guide subcontractors that provide the interior furnishing and materials. This has been crucial because we have lived exceptional times due to the Covid19 pandemic and it’s impact for the whole interior and furnishing industry for example delaying delivery dates or causing interruptions of delivery. I am very pleased with our cooperation with Jaana and also the outcome and the sneak peek of first sales of the whole food court.

Intro

Brand new Rosso Kuopio

The very first ROSSO opened back in 1978 in Lahti and today it is a chain of close to 30 outlets. We are very honoured and happy to collaborate in this interior design project which re-invented the complete look and feel of ROSSO.

The new inviting and cozy Rosso is part of the brand new Food & Joy 1500 sqm space housing a total of six different restaurant concepts under the single roof at Sokos Kuopio.

We have been working in close cooperation with the S-Grooup development team to re-invent the interior design concept of the iconic and essential part of Finnish restaurant sector the ROSSO restaurants. Rosso is Finland’s own Italian restaurant and is the place for spending happy moments together. The unique Rosso Kuopio and the whole Food & Joy project was designed and executed successfully in collaboration with Osuuskauppa PeeÄssä team.
