Complete renovation of the Original Sokos Hotel Koljonvirta

Introducing the Revitalized Original Sokos Hotel Koljonvirta Project

Discover the remarkable transformation taking place at the Original Sokos Hotel Koljonvirta in Iisalmi. Our design studio, Visionary Design Partners Helsinki, is proud to have completed the interior design of the entire hotel, including the ground floor restaurants Rosso and Hesburger. As the renovation progresses according to schedule, we are excited to announce the opening of the hotel in two phases. The first phase, opening in April 2023, includes the hotel reception, meeting room, and Rosso and Hesburger restaurants. The second phase will include the hotel rooms and sauna facilities.

Inviting Restaurant Duo in a Prime Location

The hotel’s ground floor is now home to a new and inviting restaurant duo, Rosso and Hesburger, with charming terrace areas. Rosso’s bright and rustic interior design invites guests to enjoy a joyful and effortless dining experience. The menu offers a fusion of Finnish and Italian flavors, from mouthwatering pizzas to sizzling delights from the charcoal grill. Just next door, the newly renovated Hesburger also awaits guests. Rosso and Hesburger opened their doors in late April 2023, along with the hotel’s new 14-person meeting room.

A Nature-Inspired Ambience

As part of the renovation, the hotel will unveil completely new rooms during the summer of 2023, exuding a natural and soothing atmosphere. Some of these spacious rooms will cater to families, featuring abundant use of natural materials, elements reminiscent of nature, and light color palettes. The wall murals will evoke the misty ambiance of Savo’s forests, offering a serene and tranquil experience.

Local Collaboration and Sustainability

The extensive renovation of Hotel Koljonvirta has been carried out in collaboration with local partners, emphasizing the use of products and services from local businesses for construction and interior materials. For example, the sound systems are provided by Iisalmi-based Genelec, and the sauna areas feature wood materials from Lunawood, also based in Iisalmi.

“After the completion of the project, we are committed to providing our guests with a multi-sensory and warm-hearted hotel experience in the heart of Upper Savonia,” promises Tarja Jeskanen, the hotel manager.

Osuuskauppa PeeÄssä is investing a staggering 28 million euros in the development of tourism in North Savonia in the coming years. The renovations at Original Sokos Hotel Koljonvirta are part of this major investment. Additionally, Visionary Design Partners Helsinki Oy will be designing the complete renovation and extension of Break Sokos Hotel Tahko as part of the investment.
