With the successful completion of the first phase of the Break Sokos Hotel Tahko renovation, Visionary Design Partners Helsinki is thrilled to announce our ongoing journey into the second phase of this ambitious project. As we transition from the initial renovation to the exciting expansion of the hotel, our dedication to blending cutting-edge design with unparalleled comfort continues to guide our path. This new chapter not only promises to elevate the guest experience but also showcases our relentless pursuit of innovation and excellence in interior design.
A Vision Brought to Life
Nestled in the heart of breathtaking landscapes, Break Sokos Hotel Tahko has embarked on a significant transformation journey. Owned by Osuuskauppa Peeässä, this ambitious renovation and expansion project has spanned 2023 and 2024, ensuring the hotel remains a beacon of full-service hospitality for those with a zest for life.
The revamp of the hotel’s main section, including restaurants and rooms, was completed by autumn 2023, presenting a complete metamorphosis that promises guests an unparalleled experience. With the construction of a five-story new wing rapidly progressing, the hotel is set to offer about 60 additional rooms, ranging from standard accommodations to suites, all designed to maximize the stunning views of Tahko’s slopes and scenery. The crown jewel of the five-story new extension, will be an experiential wellness spa featuring landscape saunas, a steam sauna, experience showers, jacuzzis, as well as an outdoor terrace with log saunas and a warm water pool.
A Masterpiece of Design and Comfort
Our design philosophy for Break Sokos Hotel Tahko was anchored in creating spaces that not only resonate with the natural beauty of Tahko but also provide guests with an immersive and luxurious experience. The pièce de résistance of our project is undoubtedly the spa and sauna section on the top floor. Dubbed a true paradise for bathers, it offers indoor and outdoor pools and saunas, complemented by magnificent slope and lake views, ensuring a breath-taking experience that hotel manager Anna Hämäläinen humorously warns may require guests to be reminded to breathe.
Moreover, the ground floor now boasts a fitness center equipped for comprehensive strength and aerobic training, alongside customer saunas to ensure relaxation and rejuvenation post-workout. Adding to the hotel’s allure is a simulator room, offering an engaging entertainment experience, with refreshments and snacks conveniently available from the newly renovated reception area.
A Culinary Journey Tailored for Leisure and Comfort
In line with the hotel’s leisurely ambiance, nestled within a ski resort, our approach to the culinary spaces was to create environments that echo the casual and invigorating spirit of Tahko. The hotel’s dining offerings, including the laid-back yet sophisticated Hillside, the casual charm of Pizza Breikki, and the convenience of the Hesburger fast-food outlet, were reimagined with a fresh, inviting look as part of the autumn renovation.
Recognizing the diverse needs of guests, from those seeking a quick, comforting meal after a day on the slopes to those wishing to unwind with a more relaxed dining experience, we designed each space to enhance the overall leisure and ski resort atmosphere. The aim was to seamlessly blend the culinary experience with the leisurely pace and exhilarating activities that Tahko offers.
These dining areas, revitalized with a modern yet welcoming aesthetic, ensure that whether guests are grabbing a quick bite at Hesburger or enjoying a leisurely meal at Hillside or Pizza Breikki, they are met with an ambiance that complements the joy and relaxation of a ski resort getaway.
Break Sokos Hotel Tahko’s wellness spa opens in December 2024
The Break Sokos Hotel Tahko’s hotel renovation will be completed in December 2024, and its crowning glory is a wellness spa opening in the top floor of the five-story new extension. The renovation finishes in December 2024. The crown jewel of the five-story new extension, comprising about 60 rooms, will be an experiential wellness spa featuring landscape saunas, a steam sauna, experience showers, jacuzzis, as well as an outdoor terrace with log saunas and a warm water pool. The spa complex occupies over half of the top floor, offering views towards the Tahko slopes and Lake Syväri from its windows and terrace.
In addition to the spa and suites, the top floor will also include, among other things, a versatile multipurpose space that enables the integration of wellness services into the experience. Besides the spa open to all on the top floor, the new part of the hotel will also house separate customer saunas, which will be located next to the ground floor gym.
These dining areas, revitalized with a modern yet welcoming aesthetic, ensure that whether guests are grabbing a quick bite at Hesburger or enjoying a leisurely meal at Hillside or Pizza Breikki, they are met with an ambiance that complements the joy and relaxation of a ski resort getaway.
